Air Mauritius launches Flight Academy

The Flying Academy of The Air Mauritius Institute started operations in August.

It offers pilots training in Mauritius leading to an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). The Flying Academy of the AMI operates in partnership with Progress Flight Academy of Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Air Mauritius CEO Somas Appavou ssaid: “According to industry forecasts, passenger traffic is expected to double within the next 15 years. Around 38,400 new aircraft will be required and more than 500,000 pilots will need to be trained by 2037. The future of our industry therefore rests upon our ability to prepare for this phenomenal growth potential by equipping ourselves with appropriate infrastructure and the required skilled manpower.”
