Mauritius wins Best All-Season International Destination award

Best All-Season International Destination award

Mauritius is continuing to exert a pull on Indian travellers, winning Today’s Traveller’s Best All-Season International Destination award in the popular magazine’s 8th Today’s Traveller Awards, which celebrate the best of the corporate, hospitality, travel and entertainment industries.  The award will be presented to the director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, Dr. Karl Mootoosamy, at a gala ceremony on the 16 September.

Mauritius has firmly established itself as a well-known, high-end destination in the eyes of Indian travellers, and has also built a solid business travel reputation in the MICE market (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions). The island also has a very strong track record among Indian visitors for weddings, engagements and birthday parties, with growth in tourism arrivals from India climbing at a rate of 3.7%. In 2014, more than 60,000 Indian tourists are expected to visit Mauritius, compared to 55,197 in 2012.

Savvy Indian travellers know there’s much more to Mauritius than luxury hotels and beaches. With so many things to see and do on the island, there’s no need to remain in the confines of your resort. Some of the most popular explorations involve food, with the towns and villages of Mauritius offering much in the way of exciting local cuisine, including delicious street food, authentic Creole kitchens and a host of fabulous restaurants in Port Louis and elsewhere.

If wildlife and greenery are more your thing, take a trip to one of our exquisite natural wonders like Black River Gorges National Park or Amber Island, and discover how we’re continually working to protect our native species like the Echo Parakeet. Or if you’re feeling the pull of the ocean, there’s certainly no shortage of watery excursions, from scuba diving and sailing to unusual aquatic activities like the Solar undersea walk and seakarting. And as the Today’s Traveller award attests, we’re an all-season destination – so there’s never a bad time to make Mauritius your newest discovery.
