This year sees the release of a CGI version of The Lion King, 25 years after the original animated movie was created, featuring the voices of Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Seth Rogen among others.
Research for the original film took place in Hell’s Gate national park in Kenya, around 90km from Nairobi. The park is famed for its geothermal activity, and because big cat numbers are low, visitors are allowed more access than other parks to see wildlife including antelopes, zebras, buffalos, gazelles, baboons and hyenas.
There are campsite and plenty of walking and biking options for tourists nearby and getting there is quick and easy with Air Mauritius.
